Masahiko Shimo is a rare pianist in the extremely competitive world of classical music. He has demonstrated a staying power rarely seen in the music industry. Mr. Shimo graduated with the highest marks from the Toho Gakuen College of Music in Tokyo. Then he went on to study at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary. Also, he took postgraduate studies in piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music in the UK. He has benefited from the advice and support of international musicians, including Nelly Miricioiu, Julius Drake, Norma Fisher, Mark Swartzentruber, Gábor Csalog, László Baranyay, and Ferenc Rados.
Masahiko's concert activities are diverse and extensive, encompassing solo, chamber music, and song accompaniment appearances. He has performed in London, Amsterdam, Budapest, Prague, and Tokyo. His vast repertoire from classic to contemporary enables him to enjoy vocal recitals with many international singers.
Masahiko was appointed to perform with Mathieu Dufour, who is the former principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and now principal flutist of berlin Philharmony Orchestra. They played in Tokyo, Osaka, and Tsukuba. NHK FM Radio was broadcasting their performances. Mr. Shimo gave a fascinating solo piano concert at St Martin in the Fields, London. Recently He was invited by Tongyeong City to perform during the music festival season. He is regarded as one of the world's finest pianists coming out of Asia.
Masahiko Shimo has been an artist under an exclusive contract with Pacific Concert Management and a board member of Japanisch Deutsche Liedergesellschaft.
